The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is thrilled to announce the implementation of the first-of-its-kind Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) in Cairo, Egypt, from 11 to 17 December 2018. The 7-day trade show that provides a platform for sharing trade, investment and market information and enabling buyers and sellers, investors and countries to meet, discuss and conclude business deals. It will also provide an opportunity for exhibitors to showcase their goods and services and engage in Business-to-Business (B2B) exchanges.
Dr. Benedict Oramah, President of Afreximbank, described IATF as “the continent’s single largest trade fair and the first of its kind in decades, which will truly bridge the enormous trade information gap. It will connect major players in the continent’s trade space and identify market opportunities.”
IATF 2018 aims to provide a platform for entry into a single market of over one billion people joined together under the African Continental Free Trade Area. Among some of its objectives are: bringing together continental and global players to showcase and exhibit their goods and services; serving as a marketplace where buyers and sellers of goods and services meet and explore business opportunities; providing a platform for B2B exchanges and development of business opportunities; sharing trade, investment and market information with stakeholders including investors, SMEs, the informal sector, Africans in Diaspora; and identifying solutions to address the challenges affecting intra-African trade.
“This is an opportune time for African businesspeople across industry to rally together and work towards the success of the continent we call home. Afreximbank holds firmly the belief that the Intra-African Trade Fair is the ideal platform to engage trade, media and stakeholders alike in continued efforts to change the single-story narrative we are often fed about this continent. We know Africa to be vibrant, bustling with opportunity and the home to unmatched creativity and innovation. All of these attributes at play are the ideal foundation for gatherings such as this one”, concludes Dr. Oramah.
Topical issues affecting intra-African trade and provide practical and effective solutions will be discussed at IATF 2018, fostering a precedence where multi-country and multi-company pavilions will serve as one-stop shop for intra-African trade and investment opportunities in Africa in the future.
